BMW i5 Long Wheelbase Launched in India at ₹79.60 Lakh

BMW launched the i5 Long Wheelbase in India on 7 September 2026. The introductory price is ₹79.60 lakh ex-showroom for both the eDrive35L M Sport and First Edition. The August announcement opened bookings; it was not the price launch.
The car itself is a significant step up in dimension over the standard i5. At 5,175 mm in length with a 3,105 mm wheelbase — 110 mm longer than the standard model — every extra millimetre of that extension goes into rear legroom. An 81.6 kWh battery powers a single rear-wheel-drive electric motor producing 264 hp, with an MIDC-certified range of 669 km. The i5 LWB also gets adaptive rear-axle air suspension as standard, which the regular i5 doesn't offer, and which will be appreciated on variable Indian roads.
The First Edition was announced as a limited 99-customer offering. It carries the same introductory price as the regular version. Remaining allocation and delivery dates need dealer confirmation; a limited production announcement does not establish current availability.
Why It Matters
Local production is relevant to the car’s market positioning, but the practical decision is whether it fits your charging access and regular journeys. Ask for an itemised quotation and confirm the available First Edition allocation rather than relying on an assumed sell-out date.
