Kia Sorento Now on Sale in India: Prices Start at ₹27.99 Lakh

The Kia Sorento is now on sale in India, following its 4 September launch. Kia’s India website lists a starting price of ₹27.99 lakh. This replaces our pre-launch estimate of around ₹40 lakh; the entry price does not buy every engine, seating or AWD combination.
The Sorento brings a three-row alternative for buyers considering large family SUVs. Compare the exact trim with your shortlisted Fortuner, Kodiaq or Meridian: a model-level feature list is not a promise that the base variant includes everything.
Two powertrains — one is a first for Kia in India
The headline powertrain is a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol strong-hybrid system. A 60 PS electric motor works alongside the petrol engine, producing a combined output of 238 PS and 380 Nm, routed through a six-speed automatic gearbox. This is a full parallel hybrid — not a belt-starter unit — which means it can run on electric power alone at low speeds and actively recuperates energy under braking.
AWD availability depends on the selected powertrain and trim. Check Kia’s current variant list before booking; do not assume every hybrid or diesel version includes all-wheel drive.
Size and seating
The Sorento is a large SUV by any measure. It stretches 4,815 mm in length on a 2,815 mm wheelbase, making it noticeably bigger than the Seltos and roughly on par with the Fortuner in footprint. It will be offered in both six-seat (captain's chairs in the second row) and seven-seat configurations. Boot space is 179 litres with all three rows occupied, expanding to 1,996 litres with the rear seats folded.
Design and features
The exterior follows Kia's 'Opposites United' design language — a rectangular Tiger Nose grille, vertically oriented LED headlamps with Y-shaped DRLs, and chrome window-line surrounds that taper toward the rear. The interior features a dashboard wrapped in soft leatherette upholstery with full-width ambient lighting, and captain's seats in the second row.
Confirmed features include dual 12.3-inch screens, Level 2 ADAS, a head-up display, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a wireless charging pad. Kia has also confirmed a Live Generative AI assistant for the India-spec model — making it the first Sorento globally to offer this technology.
Bookings are open
Bookings are open, and the earlier September countdown is no longer relevant. Ask the dealer to specify the powertrain, seating layout, drivetrain, delivery estimate and any booking cancellation terms on the order form.

The confirmed starting price makes this a broader buying proposition than the original preview suggested. Shortlist by your actual use: rear-seat access, luggage with all seats occupied and the cost of the desired hybrid or AWD trim. Test those requirements before moving up the range for headline equipment.
